best choices as new closers

#1 Post by bamse31 »

So, now it looks like Big Daddy (Valverde)is back and deminishing Benoit's chances to close. David Hernandez gives up a shot to lower his chances to replace Putz. Herrera? Rosenthal? What a mess! What existing closer is in trouble? And who are the best candidates to become closers?

Not for nothing but this is the game you have to play if you opt for the speculative saves route.

Holland is safe, cross Herrera off the list.

Putz too is safe but he always gets hurt so Hernandez is a necessary handcuff.

Rosenthal still has a shot. A very plausible scenario is once Motte is deemed officially out for the season, they transition to Rosenthal.

At some point, Cleveland is likely to deal Perez so Pestano is apt to take over, but maybe not until July/August.
