trade offering

#1 Post by CubFan »

12 team AL only 5x5 H2H keeper league using OBP, W+QS and S+ 1/2H

My pitching staff....
Gausman $27
Joe Ryan $22
Jon Gray $4
Tyler Wells $2
Lynn $21 (currently on bench)
Johan Duran $16 (traded Taj Bradley for him)
King $1
Will Smith $3
Swanson $1
Fairbanks $1

Been offered Sonny Gray $16 for Jon Gray + Duran

Certainly his Gray is an upgrade over my Gray but seems like I'm giving up too much adding Duran. Sonny is not likely to have a sub 2 ERA and sub 1 WHIP going forward. However, my Gray seems to be in a funk, Wells is nothing more than a #4 at best and Lynn........maybe he's starting to turn a corner. Other than Bibee (who may not have a spot in a few weeks) there are no decent SP on the wire. So, here I am looking for your thoughts.

Without even being sure of what a #4 is, Wells has a chance to be more.

I don't know how the weekly scores normally flesh out. Seems to me it's QS/wins versus Saves and 1/2 holds. Which side gives you the best chance of either winning one or competing in both? Both Grays have health concerns, so that's a wash.

For this week if I sit Lynn again I'll have 7 starts from my 4 SPs. Jon Gray at home against AZ(Gallen) and @ LAA (Suarez) so may be hard to get more than 1 or 2 W+QS from him. Of concern is Gray getting only 2 Ks each of his last 3 starts plus he has more walks than Ks over his last 4 starts.....that's way off his historical norms. Something seems amiss with him. Sonny is at Cleveland this week. Agree both Grays have an injury concern....but that seems to be a job description of many SPs. If I hold onto Duran I should be very competitive for winning S+ 1/2H each week. There is also a chance Lynn could right the ship as his issues seem to stem from having command issues. So I could swap him with Gray for this week (but he's at Cincy this week) or wait another week when he gets KC. My preference is to be able to use 5 SPs as we do have a min inning requirement for playoffs.

Given what Sonny has done so far I'd be buying high.

As I think more about this if I wait a week I may be able to package Duran (Judge $40?) to get Tucker ($16). Waiting to here back from the Tucker owner as he has no closers.

BTW, #4 for Wells meant a #4 SP. I could see him being a #3 SP.
