2nd pick keeper league(keepers in)

#1 Post by Wrigley »

Keepers are in, and I've drawn the 2nd pick; 5X5(OBP) 1C 4OF+2UTL

My keepers

1B: Encarnacion, Ad LaRoche
SS: Desmond
OF: Jones, Willingham, Reddick, Eaton, Marte(view Eaton, Marte as worthwhile upside flyers)

SP: Sale, Scherzer
CL: Perkins

Here is who's been thrown back(I'm excluding pitchers as I'll be taking a bat with my first rounder)

Cano........top player left imo
Pujols.......down year and still put up great numbers
Fielder......Monster in DET OBP stud
Beltre.....guy keeps putting up numbers
Wright......never much of a fan, but guy can hit.
Reyes.....machine at week position(already own Desmond)
Ellsbury.......one trick pony, and I already have some steals
J Upton....love him, but the #2 pick?

I see Cano as the top player on the board......Would love to have him(don't know how other owner passes on him).

Question is, who's #2?

I've already got 2 1B on my team, does that deter me from taking Pujols?

I would take
1) Cano
2) Fielder

even if Fielder locks up your UT, it is never wrong to have as many STUDS as possible

Cano did end up going first, so I took Fielder

12 team 5X5(obp)

How the team look?

2B: A Hill(via trade Melky)
3B: A Ramirez
SS: I Desmond
OF: A Jones
OF: J Willingham
OF: J Reddick
OF: J Pierre
UTL: E Encarnacion
UTL: A LaRoche
BN: D Brown
BN: S Marte
BN: C Headley
BN: C Hart

P: J Weaver
P: C Sale
P: M Scherzer
P: I Kennedy
P: AJ Burnett
P: M Rivera
P: G Balfour
P: G Perkins
P: D Storen
P: A Alburquerque

I'm pretty excited about this team, whatcha think?

I think the offense looks terrific :D GOOD JOB

Presuming you play all ten pitchers is there a reason you only have five SP?
Storen contributes nothing and Alburquerque not much more unless he gets some saves BUT do you need them with Rivera/Balfour/Perkins?

Sort of solves the question you posted elsewhere

Sorry Captain

We play 7 pitching slots with a season limit of 1300 innings

Guess I got a little carried away taking relievers(really shouldn't drink so much at the draft)

Still perfect opportunity to dump Storen and pick up Lohse (if this is the same league)

Same league, but I'd be giving up the #2 waiver priority.

Are there any Trouts/Harpers coming down the pipe this year?

1) I don't play in waiver wire leagues - even combo leagues ... is there a way to get the guy without using your #2 slot? I would likely hold the #2 in case you have an injured hitter OR there is someone to pick up (repeat this question in Platinum and I might have a name for you)

2) Trout and Harper were generational players but for a while people will remember them and be over hyped on the next generation. Best two hitters coming are
2) Wil Myers, OF, TB due up sometime in May/June but NOT Harper/Trout stats
1) Oscar Taveras, OF, STL, better hitter than Myers but likely not up until/IF late in the year

Turns out that it's a non-issue.

Lohse was drafted but wasn't in our leagues database yet(he's been added to his team) Both Myers and Taveras have been drafted also.
