Jackson Holliday available

#1 Post by CubFan »

Will be able to bid on Holliday this Sunday. In a 12 team AL only 5x5 H2H keeper league using OBP. Salary cap of $310. Am at $253. Have $85 of 100 FAAB left. Lost Story for the season. Clement is my SS and the FA cupboard is bare. Of course there is a ton of hype in Holliday but most rookies struggle. Being only 20 his power will likely take a few years to develop but he has a great swing, takes walks so should have a very good OBP. Having a dad who played exceptionally well in the majors is a plus.

So, how aggressive of a bid would you go to land him knowing there are no other choices at MI. Was thinking $40+.

I am in the process of writing a column (will be available for free on Fantasy Index in a couple of hours) as to why I don't recommend FAAB bids, but rather prefer to offer tips team managers should use to set their bids.

Appreciate the link Todd. Hadn't given any thought to separating FAAB into a Management budget and Maintenance/Luxury budget. Will have to think about that. I do agree with you about being aggressive early in the season if a high quality player becomes available and fits a need, as in losing a player you expected to be a key contributor. I lost Sotry for the year and Lewis for a couple of months. Many of the other owners are aggressive in their bids. I was the underbidder on Langford the first week losing out $42-44. Given that, doesn't it seem reasonable that I need to be aggressive in my FAAB this Sunday?
