I draft a MR based on his historical skills and likelihood of becoming closer if the guy in front falters or gets hurt.

I don't drop one because of one rough week unless he is hurt or no longer next in line for saves or someone with a better history and also in line for saves becomes available.

I trust by the end of the season, his numbers will be as they always are, which means there is more good than bad to come.

That's just me....

Says he is having trouble gripping his slider. Last year he started slow but was fantastic the second half.

I am not a huge believer in using first half/second half as a predictive tool. Yeah, some players are better in one half or the other but there is no way to differentiate the ones that really are from the ones that are happenstance/due to probablity.

In the case of Perez, could it be the inclemently cold weather? Perhaps.

Your team, your call -- my suggestion is only not to pick up a guy that had a nice first week but does not have a history to support it continuing.
