Points vs Best Ball Strategy
Points vs Best Ball Strategy
When drafting in my points league I do not draft closers (not required or required to start) and thusly I only draft starters. Points awarded in both leagues are 7 for wins, 7 for saves and no points taken away for BS but -5 for losses. Seven pitchers start in both leagues without being required to start closers. Should my strategy change when drafting for Best Ball leagues?
Re: Points vs Best Ball Strategy
I take the opposite approach and hammer closers. Call it different, not necessarily better. Saves tend to come in bunches so if I have four on my roster, my hope is two of them pop in a particular week and then I rely on my starters for the other seven spots. The key is I obviously prefer closers with a set job and there are not as many this season. Since closers are usually pushed down other's cheat sheets, I can usually be ahead of the market and snag a few of the better options.
