Oxymoron

I know I'm old but I don't understand how the expression "auction draft" maintains its legs. Isn't one an auction and the other a draft?

Sorry, just read the term once too often today and had to vent. At least I wasn't up late drinking this time. :D

Hi guy.

As a fellow old timer, ours has been an auction draft ever since we went Ultra style. Fill out your 23 man active rosters via an auction, and draft your reserves and minor leaguers.
These are my views based on my own opinions and observations - your mileage may vary.

TB -- while I agree and do my best to differentiate one from the other, I occasionally miss it in edit and it slips through. I do think it is safe to say an auction draft is mostly really an auction, though like Kid says, may leagues (Tout, LABR and NFBC included) use a snake draft to fill the reserves.
