AL Only Keeper -- Inaugural Year

#1 Post by zEli173 »

First year AL-Only keeper. This league is shallower than normal both in terms of teams (nine) and rosters (no MI, one C). There is no reserve so players aren't rosterable if they're not expected to contribute this year. That said I'm probably going to reach a bit on certain guys for keeper reasons. Here's my own list of targets who seem to have ample growth potential beyond '09 because of youth, injury, or playing time. I'm looking for feedback and additions.

Hitters
A-Rod (How far is too far?)
Mauer (Generally not a fan for the price and I think the price will still be too high)
Chris Davis
David Ortiz (If he shows he's not on the downside in '09 then he'll be a huge value in '10)
Delmon Young
Adam Jones
Kendrick
Weiters (Obviously this is a big consideration)
Choo
Billy Butler
Kendry Morales
Elvis Andrus
Travis Snider (I'm afraid he could hurt me this year)

Pitchers
Liriano
Bedard (Similar deal to Ortiz)
Morrow (Best place for '09 impact is saving games)
David Price (Don't think I can stomach the cost of acquisition)
Chris Ray (Seems healthy so looks to again be the long term solution for the O's)
Rich Hill (See '07)
Carmona (See '07)
Masterson
McGowan
Buchholz
Porcello (I'm wagering he gets #5 spot to start the year if he does well this weekend)
Cahil, Anderson, Mazzaro (one, maybe two, jobs open for the trio)
