CVRC help

#1 Post by wilstony14 »

Digging the material so far, so the ol' tip of the cap to the Mastersball crew.
Need help with CVRC hitters though...
Trying to set it up, but getting values of $120+ for some peeps. Can't be right.
Can you assist/advise? League settings:
1 C, 1 1B, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 SS, 3 OF, 2, UT.

R, HR, RBI, SB, OBP.

HTH keeper league. Can you point me in right direction or what I'm doing wrong?

Muchas gracias hombres!

What are you presently entering to get that result?

How many teams are in the league?

12 Teams...

League set-up page: Mix, OBP, two pools, customize, Catchers = 12, outfielders 36...

...i have not made any adjustments to the player pool setup page, as the CI/MI deviations are throwing me off.

Depending on how in depth you want to do this, and quite frankly with your lineup, I would just use 2 pools because there will be no scarcity with no MI and CI using 2 UT's, enter

C 12
OF 108

Basically, everyone non-catcher is lumped together so for the purpose of the valuation, they are all the same position, I just happen to use OF - it is arbitrary.

Try that and maybe post the top couple of players and their value. Once we're sure you're doing this part correctly, I will run it from my desk using the advanced method and if the positional adjustment is significant, I'll work you through it. But if it is only a buck or two here and there, it's not worth it.

But first things first -- try the 12/108 thing and see what happens.

OK, looks like we need to force positions (account for position scarcity)

Go to the Player Pool Set Up Tab. You should see the following (ignore MI and CI, you don't use them)

C 12
1B 17
2B 13
3B 14
SS 10
OF 54

This is the number of each position given a value of $1 or more during the two pool run you just did. Please note there are only 10 at SS -- this means you need to pull 2 SS into the pool while knocking out 2. Now look at 2B -- you can only knock out 1 2B or else you wouldn't have enough.

The idea is to knock out the highest ranked players not in the pool.

Now look on that page and see this

2B
C
C
2B
OF
SS
C
3B
3B
C
SS
SS
OF
OF
OF

There may be numbers in there, please get rid of them. These are the positions of the top players not in the top-120. Put a 1 in the box next to the first 2B and a 1 in the box next to OF. This tells the program to get rid of 1 2B and 1 OF.

Now go down further and see this

OF
3B
OF
SS
OF
OF
C
OF
C
SS
SS
OF
OF
OF
1B

technically, you're supposed to put a 1 in the first SS box then a 1 in the second, but just putting a 2 in the first one does the trick. Now go down and see the following

C 12
1B 17
2B 12
3B 14
SS 12
OF 53

Note that there are ample players at every position. Of your 24 UT, 5 will be 1B, 2 will be 3B and 17 will be OF - which makes intuitive sense.

Type in those numbers on the League Set Up Page and change POOL COMPOSITION to Forced Positions -- then get values.

If Miggy is $67 and Joey Bats is $65, you're all set.
