While some people might have thought that Tout Wars was the big ticket in fantasy baseball this past weekend, those in the know would have been in Slattery's pub in Dublin where the Fantasy Baseball League of Ireland were having their first auction.

Although we've done drafts for a few years, this was the first time that we've done a live auction. To reinforce the Irish stereotype, we had it in a pub while all elsewhere were outside enjoying the hottest day of the year by far.
The prices are somewhat mental. There were a lot of big buys early with some serious bargains later on as people got a bit scared with their cash.
One thing to note, along with the move to auction we'd also made it a keeper league (add $5 to the player next year).
And yes, it was me who left the auction with $59 on the table. Sheesh...
