Brandon Wood claimed by Pirates

The Pirates have claimed Brandon Wood off waivers after his release from the Angels.

He ended up in the place that many thought he would and it makes sense for the Bucs to take a chance on him with the unexciting Ronny Cedeno manning SS and nothing coming up the pike from their own system. He definitely needs to be back on the radar at the very least, since Clint Hurdle has a pretty good track record as a hitting coach (he's the head coach in Pitt). Color me intrigued - because we all drool about the power potential that he showed in the minors. Again - I'm not saying you rush out and grab him anywhere - but I'll be watching for any signs of life or PT that come his way.

Definitely a good place for him to land Ryan - and the team I had my hopes would acquire him as working with Clint Hurdle could really help and it doesn't cost the Pirates anything to take a shot at improving their SS situation. See the link below for more on Wood the Prospect
