Tsuyoshi Nishioka

#1 Post by jkadagio »

Thoughts on him this year? I like the projections MB has for him. I think he could be a decent later round steal.

I haven't followed the Twins much at all, any ideas on where he bats in the order this season? My league has him 2B elligible, and I'm guessing that is what the Twins declared him as. MB has him at SS. What am I missing? Is he going to be the SS?

He is going to be the 2B (at least to start the year) and he looks like he will hit in the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Make sure to check your leagues eligibility lists to see where he qualifies in your league to begin the year. I like him as well this year and think he'll provide a nice BA and 15-20 sb's. The question of course is will he hit the "wall" that many players transitioning from Japan do later in the season. They say he is a tremendous athlete, so perhaps he can avoid this. I personally like him more in fantasy as a 2B/MI than I do a SS this year.

He played SS in Japan which is why we have him there.

I am seriously considering cutting his HR by 1 or 2, I don't think his limited power will play well in Target.

I should have added that in most league he is only SS eligible to start the year. He will gain that 2B eligibility quickly, however, that's why I like him better as a MI option.

In AL only leagues, decent shortstops are in short supply. I prefer him at shortstop in that format.

Any eyes seen him in Florida? Could be a lot of run potential in front of Mauer, Morneau and Cuddyer if he can get to first base.
