J.Ellsbury - Risk Aquiring

#1 Post by Black Sox »

I understand no one has a crystal ball but would people be looking to trade for him or are you afraid this could hamper him all year. I'd love to swing a trade since I'm low in runs the other guy asked for Ubaldo or Wainright which I'm not doing but what about M.Cain & C.Pena for him? if you don't own him are you looking to acquire him or stay away?

Ellsbury is to be re-examined today and a return to the DL is a definite possibility.

This could well be an injury that will give him problems all year and IF he does go back on the DL it will be until he is totally pain free.....no idea of how long....but he will then be way off on timing.

Bottom line is that while he can certainly help you if he is in the lineup, I would only recommend buying low on him in a keeper league as I see greater value in 2011 than I do for this year. You cannot possibly give up the names you are mentioning for him Now.

To add one more comment to Perry's analysis, you say you want Ellsbury for RUNS. Intuitively, a guy stealing 70 bags a top the Red Sox order should score a ton. But the fact is he has 98 and 94 the past 2 seasons. He has yet to break the 100 run plateau. My point is there if it is really just runs (and not steals as well) that you want, there may be more cost-effective means than getting Ellsbury.

He's a buy low guy if buy at all.

Doesn't seem the prices being mentioned are low at all.

Thanks for the tips. I was never gonna do the top tier pitchers he was asking ( too me it's a joke ) but the league is shallow, I agree Cain is still too much to pay, C.Pena is my throw in for every deal his BA is a killer, and he just sits on my bench. Thanks again for the advice
