Daily Fantasy 6/9 - FanDuel evening games

#1 Post by alleyoops »

Early look at Monday evening games:

P Ryan Vogelsong $6,100 WAS@SFG ✗ Much cheaper than Strasburg 9900, and has pitched very well
C Victor Martinez $3,600 DET@CWS ✗ probably the best C option, switch vs Noesi
1B Chris Davis $3,800 BOS@BAL ✗ good matchup at home, l v r
2B Jason Kipnis $2,700 CLE@TEX ✗ still cheap, good matchup l v r
3B Adrian Beltre $4,300 CLE@TEX ✗ home vs lefty
SS Jose Reyes $3,500MIN@TOR✗ home vs nolasco
OF Alex Rios $3,700 CLE@TEX ✗ home vs lefty
OF Michael Brantley $3,700 CLE@TEX ✗ l v r in texas
OF Melky Cabrera $3,500 MIN@TOR ✗ home vs nolasco

Revision #1 - wanted to get Tulo in the lineup, noticed Heyward cheap at COL

P Ryan Vogelsong $6,100 WAS@SFG ✗
C John Jaso $3,000 OAK@LAA ✗
1B Chris Davis $3,800 BOS@BAL ✗
2B Jason Kipnis $2,700 CLE@TEX ✗
3B Adrian Beltre $4,300 CLE@TEX ✗
SS Troy Tulowitzki $4,800 ATL@COL ✗
OF Jason Heyward $3,100 ATL@COL ✗
OF Alex Rios $3,700 CLE@TEX ✗
OF Melky Cabrera $3,500 MIN@TOR ✗

Revision #2 - weather looking bad in Texas, which sucks because I really like the hitters in that game (note - discarded the lineup below, as the weather's looking OK in Texas)

P Ryan Vogelsong $6,100 WAS@SFG ✗
C John Jaso $3,000 OAK@LAA ✗
1B Chris Davis $3,800 BOS@BAL ✗
2B Howie Kendrick $2,500 OAK@LAA ✗ "settled" here, as no good matchups for under the price
3B Josh Donaldson $4,400 OAK@LAA ✗ room to fit him, don't like the R v R, but he looks best of the options after Beltre
SS Troy Tulowitzki $4,800 ATL@COL ✗
OF Jason Heyward $3,100 ATL@COL ✗ good matchup L v R
OF Josh Hamilton $3,700 OAK@LAA ✗ decent matchup L v R
OF Melky Cabrera $3,500 MIN@TOR ✗

Went back to Rev #1, as it looks like the weather's going to hold on Texas.

After reading some more, decided to replace Vogelsong with Strasburg in half my lineups. The new lineup is:

I haven't looked at the prices but there are a ton of solid middle tier pitching options. Could be a night to play Draft Street.

My results have been much better on FanDuel than on DraftStreet. I suspect that the 3 pitching slots and extra UT slots on DS make it easier to get a lot of strong players in the lineup, which makes the variance higher and allows some folks who aren't as diligent to cash more often.

Actually it's just the opposite with Draft Street. They maneuver their prices more than any site and they react less to the current level of play (as they should, IMO) so it is harder to fill the lineup with name players. It's actually a nice mix of stars and trolling for lower dollar players. You can fill a fanDuel roster with name players on most nights -- I suspect by design. It attracts the more casual player who wants to root for guys they know.

The variance is by far the most on FanDuel -- not even close.

You're probably right, but I just find the games tougher at DS, at least so far. I've only been at this a short while, though, so maybe it's just a matter of adjusting how I'm choosing the lineups. For now, I'm focusing on FD, where I've had consistent success so far.

Late night lineup:

P Ryan Vogelsong $6,100 WAS@SFG ✗ see above
C John Jaso $3,000 OAK@LAA ✗ see above
1B Brandon Moss $4,600 OAK@LAA ✗ nice L v R matchup
2B Danny Espinosa $2,200 WAS@SFG ✗ settled here, but he is L v R
3B Josh Donaldson $4,400 OAK@LAA ✗ best option available
SS Jed Lowrie $2,900 OAK@LAA ✗ settled somewhat here, L v R
OF Jonathan Singleton $2,800 HOU@ARI ✗ R v R, but he looks legit
OF Mike Trout $5,300 OAK@LAA ✗ R v R, but could fit him, so did
OF Josh Hamilton $3,700 OAK@LAA ✗ see above

Rev #1: Decided to replace Vogelsong with Strasburg

P Stephen Strasburg $9,900 WAS@SFG ✗
C John Jaso $3,000 OAK@LAA ✗
1B Brandon Moss $4,600 OAK@LAA ✗
2B Danny Espinosa $2,200 WAS@SFG ✗
3B David Freese $2,500 OAK@LAA ✗ don't like this change from Donaldson, but had to find $ somewhere
SS Jed Lowrie $2,900 OAK@LAA ✗
OF Jonathan Singleton $2,800 HOU@ARI ✗
OF Coco Crisp $3,400 OAK@LAA ✗ downgrade from Trout, but probably not much
OF Josh Hamilton $3,700 OAK@LAA ✗

Lost nearly all entries yesterday. Strasburg was OK, but missed on the hitters, and Vogelsong.

I had my best night in a long time -- went with an Indians stack in most placed and killed it.
