Free projections?

#1 Post by alleyoops »

Does anyone know of any web sites which have free 2009 projections available now? (I realize you get what you pay for, but usually even the bad ones are decent for a ballpark on players)

You can get CHONE, Marcel and Bill James from www.fangraphs.com. I believe there is a way to download them to a spreadsheet. Keep in mind these are a very objective treatment and may not be fantasy friendly in terms of playing time and also skills. They tend to favor regression and may not recognize a skills growth or decline.

Here's a list, which is likely only scratching the surface. The biggest challenge with any of these is arriving at a playing time projection. Most don't really attempt it, especially this early.

Marcels are essentially a formula of previous systems, weighted. Data manipulation and other subjective factors are minimal (essentially non-existent).

This set is free, but projections for the upcoming year haven't been done yet (as far as I know). As the link notes, it's based on the Marcels.
