new closers

#1 Post by Atlas » August 3rd, 2017, 5:23 pm

Lost Wilson at trading deadline.
Hanging on for dear life and could use the best "new" closer available.

Robles? S. Greene? Cishek? Vizcaino? Who in Minny?

Cishek and Robles don't belong in the discussion.

If ratios are still in the picture, Vizcaino is the best pitcher of the bunch.

If it's just about saves, then Greene, though I wouldn't be shocked if Joe Jimenez gets a shot at some point.

The Twins say Taylor Rogers will be the guy for now -- Trevor Hildenberger is the off the radar speculative dart in Minnesota.

However, the other night (Wed?) Belisle was warming up in the nignth and has put up better numbers than Rogers. IMO, it's pretty much throwing darts in that pen for closers. Agree with Todd that Hildenberger is a dark horse as is Jimenez, the latter more for 2018. I suspect you'll see him move into the set-up role at some point. And if you really want to speculate, Bruce Rondon may be your cup of tea. Depsite all the negativity he's currently being used as Greene's set up guy.
