AL-Only Waiver Questions

#1 Post by special k » July 11th, 2017, 5:47 pm

Standard 5X5 rules. Assume that all players involved would help me equally in categories, I have balance and am in first by 6 points at the all-star break.
Two players have just been waived. If I make claims for both tomorrow, I might get one of them: Santiago Casilla and Brad Miller.
The question is two-fold: 1. Which one represents the bigger upgrade; and 2. Which player to release if a claim is made.

A. For Casilla, the choices for waiving are 1. Gausman, no rights for next year; 2. J.C. Ramirez, a $5 keeper; or Hammel, a $5 free agent pickup attached to a $13 Shoemaker. When Shoemaker is healthy, I would have to choose between Shoemaker and Casilla. 4. Cody "Did I just lose my job?" Allen, not going to pay $23 again. Other closer is Kimbrel. Now second in saves, first in wins, third in WHIP and Ratio, waiting for Keuchel to get healthy, Pineda to remove his head from his posterior, Darvish to win a game or two and Paxson to continue to remember he can pitch. Don't really care about the money, want to win this year, but if all things are even...I have Cotton and Graveman on reserve and unlimited reserve moves if they are ever healthy again.

B. For Miller, who looked like himself again vs. the Sox (the prick), I could let Frazier or maybe Bregman go. Not ready to give up on Kepler, but...

Special bonus question: I have to choose between C. Davis and Gamel soon. I can use average, also HRs, So who do we like better for second half?

Thanks for any thoughts!
