Trade one of Zimmerman, Sano, Judge?

#1 Post by mooonkyu » May 19th, 2017, 11:04 am

I have three of the most talked about batters off to hot starts?: Zimmerman ($10), Sano ($19) and Judge ($10), dollars are their keeper values. I think they've all shown some skill growth and think that all three could be on their way to career years, but I'm primarily worried about Zimmerman's health. He hasn't played more than 115 games since 2013. If past health is the best indicator of future health, then we should be pretty certain Zimmerman is going to hit the DL as some point this year. Then the only question is will it be a short term thing (tweaked ankle) or something catastrophic (ACL, broken hand bone).

I'm in first mostly due to my hitting. Would you guys ride this out as long as possible or would you look to move one of these hitters? 115 games of this level of Ryan Zimmerman is still pretty valuable.

If I made a move I would try to add pitching since I need strikeouts. Who of this list would be a fair ask? 12 5x5 (OBP and QS): Darvish, McCullers, deGrom, Lester. I'm assuming I can't get Kershaw...
C - B McCann
1B - C Santana
2B - Lowrie
3B - Gallo
SS - Bogaerts
CI - Hanley
MI - A Russell
OF - K Bryant, JBJ, Gardener, Sano, Judge
UT - Zimmerman
BN - Hernan Perez, Haniger (DL)

P - Duffy, Fulmer, Harvey, Wacha, Cobb, Eduardo Rodriguez
RP - Davis, Colome, Iglesias
BN - Arrieta, Urias
DL - Capps, Rodon

Context is everything. It's not player for player but team effect for team effect.

People love choices. Put all three on the table, see what happens.

Zimmerman lost most of his time from shoulder then plantar fasciitis. It's not that either can't reappear, but I'd be more concerned if there were chronic soft tissue woes (though he did lose time to oblique as well).

I would trade Zimmerman and try for Lester or McCullers

I'd see about trading Zimmerman first. As for which pitcher it's between Darvish and McCullers for me. While McCullers has put up slightly better numbers and pitches for a better team than Darvish the former has yet to pitch more than 125 innings due to injury and is more of an injury concern than Darvish.
12 team AL only standard 5x5 H2H keeper league

C - Sanchez $4
1B/3B - Bird $1
2B/SS - Dozier $34, M. Gonzalez $1, Gregorius $9
OF - Trout $53, Mancini $9, Haniger $10, T. Hernandez $1
UT -
SP - Kluber $35, McHugh $3, Montgomery $5
RP - Brach $4, Treinen $1, Green $1,
Bench - Rodon $3, Nate Jones $1, Kipnis $12, Beckham $3
