Re: ROUND 18, Pick 1 - Ryan Doumit, C, MIN

Don't want to pick my 2nd catcher now, but like the closer run, I don't see a decent option coming back to me. so, while Doumit is a risk, he has the potential to have a bounce back year and time at DH will lower the injury risk. As they say, that's why the play the games!

Rookie season: .292/.370/.482 in 100 games.
Career minor league numbers: .286/.383/.473

I'm excited to watch this kid play ball this year. His rookie season was right in line with his minor league numbers, and with a full time gig in RF (as well as a chance to play 1B, if Ike needs a break, or an I.V.), he should be able to put up something in the neighborhood of 20 75 75 .280, and to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he beats some of those numbers (although probably not the average).

Oh, I almost forgot - we're legally obligated to mention that "they moved the fences in" every time we speak of a Met player. So there, I did it.

I am not sure, but I also think you are obligated to do a little dance while signing "Camptown Ladies" when you pick DOO-DAH!

Don't think I haven't had fun with his name so far this spring. :) I own him on two teams and counting.

Re: ROUND 18 Pick 4 Derek Holland, SP, TEX

#9 Post by southpaw » March 14th, 2012, 1:41 pm

Dang, we were all thinking the same thing because I was targeting Sale with this pick as well.

So I will stick with SP thought and take Holland. If you look at CJ Wilson's stats in 2010, they are eerily (sp?) similar to Hollands in 2011. Virtually same K/9, WHIP, everything...so is Holland due to break out like CJ? I'm bettin' on it here. Unreal that he had 4 complete game shutouts last year.

Re: ROUND 18 Doug Fister SP DET

Instead of high K totals - we'll go with good ratios and some cheap W's here.

Plenty of risky high K guys to be had later. Fister makes the perfect No 5 guys behind my big 4 SP's.
