Re: ROUND 17.2 Alcides Escobar, SS KC

I need some steals from my MI spots and Escobar fits the bill. He has big time speed, and will play plenty in a lineup that should be pretty good. His PA will be lower than some others because he will (at least start) batting at the bottom of the lineup, but even a slight uptick in stolen base opportunities would make him a 30+ SB threat.

I'll fill my MI with Neil Walker .270 12-16 HR and 70/80 is not too shabby this late from my MI position. Grabbing speed in the OF allows me to not have to chase it in the IF which makes Walker a nice fit.

Need another starter and am high on him this year. Think he will have a nice rebound , get more wins and likely a small boost in Ks.....Will pitch in the best diviison in baseball...weal lineups and great parks.

Wanted an arm here, but things are getting compact. I'll take a rebound guy on a stacked offense and hope he throws me 75R/85RBI/25 HR as a UTIL.

Re: ROUND 17.6 Brennan Boesch OF DET

The #2 hitter in what figures to be one, if not the, best lineup in the AL.

Another guys (like Gaby) who's yet to show he can put 2 good halves of baseball together. If he does, in that lineup .275 25 75/85runs and throw in another half dozen bags for good measure. A real steal this late IMO.

Considering I ignored OF the way I did, I'm very happy with the 4 I have so far.

Re: ROUND 17 Pick 8 Marco Scutaro SS, COL

#10 Post by deansdaddy » March 14th, 2012, 9:41 am

With the three MI types going earlier this round, I am going to lock up the guy I had targeted for this position and not risk missing him.

Scutaro's value is still repressed I think, but he is locked in as the No 2 hitter in what figures to be a fairly potent Rockies offense. His biggest benefit to my team will be BA and Runs, as he's going to see pitches to hit ahead of Cargo and Tulo - and then he'll be crossing the plate a lot after they drive him in. Add inthe fact that when he adds 2B eligibility two weeks in - he covers both positions for me and I'm sold.
