Bill Gallo

The New York iconic cartoonist had passed on at the age of 88. The man who gave us Basement Bertha, the unofficial mascot of the early New York Mets, the man who created General von Steingrabber and, of course, the TeleKeg* (* - pat pending) will be fondly remembered by all of us old time NY baseball fans. And for work he did outside of baseball as well.

A link to some of his work an the NY Daily News.

He was one of the greats and a true American hero. Just taking a gander at those pieces in the gallery reminds you the love for the sport of boxing that Gallo had. He will be missed.
