SAN DIEGO Established Money League 16 teams

#1 Post by daweasle »

Our 16 Team Mixed League is in its 11th year. We still have 11 of the original 16 owners, but we recently lost two owners, and are looking for two replacement owners.
This league is not for the faint of heart. The entry fee is approx $170. At 16 teams as you can imagine it makes for a very nice prize pool(Over $2500). We use Yahoo Plus services for online league, and we do use about $200 for unlimited food and drinks during the Auction Style Draft. All other entry fees and waiver processing fees are returned as 100% payback in prizes.
THE DRAFT - Auction Style draft held March 19th 1200pm-500pm near Petco Park, downtown San Diego.
KEEPERS - Yes this is a keeper league, but you will be fairly compensated as a new owner. We have an expansion draft, where you will be allowed to bid on every one elses keepers. For example, each player gets to keep 6 players or $75 in keeper salary. So a bidding order is created and you can look at the first teams roster of 6 keeper players. You see that owner has Gaby Sanchez for $2. You think you'd like to have him so you bid $3, then the original owner can continue to bid, just like the auction until someone wins gaby sanchez, and his new keeper value is whatever the highest bid is. This actually works out very well for new owners, allowing you to help offset the value of extremely underpriced keepers.
SCORING - This league is Head to Head. Each week you compete against another team - in 8 offensive and 7 pitching categories.
ROSTER - 1C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, CI, MI, 4 OF, 2 UT/DH, 8 pitchers - 1 DL Spot. No other reserves, no bench. All players on your roster accumulate stats for your team. If a player is not performing and you drop that player, he hits waivers for 2-3 days and then he is free game for everyone in the league to pickup. This may change your drafting strategy? Up to you to decide.
DIVISIONS - There are 2 divisions split 8 teams each. At the end of the draft - Last years winner and runner up become division pickers - and select which teams will be in their division. (Otherwise than that - last years winner and runner up have no other advantages.)
MESSAGE BOARD - The members of this league are from a varied background and the language does get salty sometimes. If you are scared of trash talking - either don't read the message board or find a different league.
TRADES - This league is very active on the trade market. On average there are 2 trades every week, but sometimes it's a lot more. All trades are vetoable - if 7 members of the league vote that a trade is inequitable - the commissioner will not push a trade thru.
FREE AGENCY - All non rostered players must first pass thru waivers, then they are free agents. There is a max of 25 free agent moves per season. (averages out to one per week) This prevents people from constantly streaming starting pitchers. Once you have used all 25 moves, you are no longer allowed to use the free agent list. No exceptions.
