Another keeper question

#1 Post by actuary316 »

12 team; mixed; snake draft; 5x5 (HR/OBP/RP/SB/TB/W/ERA/WHIP/S/K)

I can keep up to 5 players. So far I'm leaning towards...

1. Ryan Howard - round 15
2. Jose Altuve - round 23
3. Fernando Rodney - round 20

For the last two slots I can choose from....

Brett Garnder - round 21
Dom Brown - round 24
Angel Pagan - round 14
Rafael Soriano - round 24
Kendry Morales - round 28
Manny Machado - round 10
A Ramirez - round 7
Carlos Beltran - round 13

Thoughts?!

1) The Ramirez question above? Big difference

2) RP? - Is that Runs Produced and what is your league's definition

In general you want the best hitters you can get and the best value as your first three
But sometimes you just have to get a hitter you might lose - like Aramis Ramirez

Yes, it Aramis. Didn't think keeping him as a 7th round pick gave much value.

RP = Runs + RBI - HR

Other than Altuve, and Dominic Brown these guys all seem pretty close in terms of what they'll do vs. what they'll cost. similar profit potentials so to speak.

Altuve is a must keep, Brown is a must not.

Perhaps it makes the most sense to look at the remaining inventory like this:

For power hitters/run producers you have:
Kendrys
Aramis
Howard
Beltran
Machado
I like them is this order based on profit potential wise.

For speed I'd put Gardner over Pagan

At closer, its Rodney over Soriano.

Given that Altuve is kept, pick 4 from the following categories thinking about how you want to blend speed, power and closers.

Well I think you should reconsider that - in four 12 team NFBC mixed league drafts he went once at
4.01
twice in the 5th round
and once early in the sixth

Todd currently has him at $20 value for 12 team mixed league so that is well worth the draft slot and gives you some needed power with a good BAvg, and covers a tricky 3B slot

So I would keep these five

1. Ryan Howard - round 15
2. Jose Altuve - round 23
3. Fernando Rodney - round 20
4. Aramis Ramirez - round 7
5. Brett Gardner - round 21 (OR if you don't mind drafting speed with your other MI and don't feel confident in Gardner then I would keep Kendrys Morales for a round 28 pick)
