Keeper help needed

12 team 5X5(obp) keeper 4OF/2UTL

Keeper values are based on previous years draft position

Round 1: $5
Rounds 2-4: $4
Rounds 5-10: $3
Rounds 11-20: $2
Rounds 21-25: $1
Waiver Wire: $1

Values increase by $2 each year a player is kept.

C: M Montero($3)
1B: M Cuddyer($4) E Encarnacion($2) A LaRouche($1)
2B: M Scutaro($2)
SS: I Desmond($1)
3B: R Zimmerman($7)
OF: B Gardner($4)
OF:Ad Jones($3)
OF: C Rasmus($3)
OF:J Willingham($2)
OF: J Reddick($1)
OF: A Eaton($1)
OF: D Brown($1)
OF: C Ross($1)
OF: J Ruggiano($1)
OF: J Jay($1)

P: M Scherzer($3) F Fransico($3) D Holland($2) E Santana($2) C Sale($2) WY Chen($1) G Perkins($1) E Stultz($1)

I'm leaning towards the bolded(unless I'm talked out of it), leaving me $1 to spend

My keeper question is:

Who do I keep?

I Desmond or A LaRoche....both are the same price

Or do I throw Gardner back and rethink all of my keepers?

The key is OBP

Gardner gets a boost, Desmond takes a hit. In BA, my answer is different, but with OBP, I add LaRoche and keep the rest the same.

Todd does Gardner get enough of a boost to offset both the injury risk and the cheaper players not kept - Eaton may end up with almost the same stats - few less SB and a few more HR

yeah, I've been haggling with this and was on the verge of convincing myself to change my mind

I think you can get Gardner back "cheaper" if you want him.

That frees up $$ for some speculative plays. It's such a shallow league that if they don't work out, so what, you replace them.

You have $5 to play with

LaRoche
Desmond
Perkins
Eaton
Ruggiano

Then draft some OBP support.

I'll be looking for a HUGE bat come draft day, as several sluggers will be available(M Cab would be nice)......SB's were my achilles heal last year.

Opps, I've also Starling Marte

I will guess that Marte is $1 and add him to this list then whittle it down......
C: M Montero($3)
1B: M Cuddyer($4)
E Encarnacion($2)
A LaRouche($1)
2B: M Scutaro($2)
SS: I Desmond($1)
3B: R Zimmerman($7)
OF: B Gardner($4)
OF:Ad Jones($3)
OF: C Rasmus($3)
OF:J Willingham($2)
OF: J Reddick($1)
OF: A Eaton($1)
OF: D Brown($1)
OF: C Ross($1)
OF: J Ruggiano($1)
OF: J Jay($1)
OF: S. Marte ($1)
P: M Scherzer($3)
P: F Fransico($3)
P: D Holland($2)
P: E Santana($2)
P: C Sale($2)
P: WY Chen($1)
P: G Perkins($1)
P: E Stultz($1)

okay, let's eliminate Cuddyer, R. Zimmerman, Scutaro, Gardner, Rasmus, Ruggiano, and Jay, then Francisco, Holland, E. Santana, Chen, and Stultz; leaving us with
C: M Montero($3)
E Encarnacion($2)
A LaRoche($1)
SS: I Desmond($1)
OF:Ad Jones($3)
OF:J Willingham($2)
OF: J Reddick($1)
OF: A Eaton($1)
OF: D Brown($1)
OF: C Ross($1)
OF: S. Marte ($1)
P: M Scherzer($3)
P: C Sale($2)
P: G Perkins($1)

IIRC you have $18 to work with and the above total $23 so five dollars to cut
Here are the questionable
D. Brown $1 - does he platoon? I can't see him worth keeping with all his questions/baggage
J. Reddick $1 - not sure about his OBP but I don't think he repeats the power
Willingham $2 - you can always get him back and you have a lot of power already
Desmond $1 - love the counting stats but can you afford the OBP?
S. Marte $1 - I love the guy but not sure this they give him enough rope if he has a poor start
G. Perkins $1 - I actually like this guy and cheap saves are never bad

so if you keep
C: M Montero($3)
1B: E Encarnacion($2)
CI: A LaRoche($1)
SS: I Desmond($1)
OF:Ad Jones($3)
OF: A Eaton($1)
OF: C Ross($1)
P: M Scherzer($3)
P: C Sale($2)

for $17 you can add one more $1 player - I would add Perkins but your mileage may vary
