Re: Nolan Jones
Jones wasn't so much hot as his first half merited a callup and there was a need (in terms of opening and spark) at the major league level. His HardHit% spiked, if he can keep it up, he should be able to overcome his K% so long as it stays below 30%. If he continues to hit, there are pathways to pla...

Re: When to cut bait
I'm willing to cut bait with anyone spending a lot of the first half on the IL (O'Neill). Injuries beget more injuries and there's the time it takes to shake off the rust. Straw loses a ton of utility in the nine-hole. Depending on roster construct and category needs, cutting bait is absolutely defe...

I'm evaluating for the next few weeks, not few months -- there's just too much going on to look ahead ROS. Nobody from the group is pitching well. I trust Logan Gilbert to perform a lot more than I trust Riley Greene, at least for this season.
Trades are not done in a vacuum, especially those with keeper implications. There is only one person to ask if it's enough.

Hopefully you've replaced a couple of injured Tampa guys.
Not sure what you're looking for -- as the standings reflect, you have too many non-closing relievers and it's costing you in the pitching counting stats.

Morton has pitched well in his last three starts.
Last season, Hendricks started out terribly, crushed for a spell in the middle but ended in another rut. His lack of dominance lessens his margin of error.

Crystal ball question, probably best to approach in a practical sense.
Am I OK with Stassi or do I need an upgrade behind the plate?
FWIW -- Baltimore's top of the lineup isn't horrible, so if Rutschman is slotted in the top-5, the context isn't bad.

In H2H, it's more about what choice wins the most categories. If it looks like your opponent will take ratios, then the two start option helps assure taking wins/QS and K's. I'd make the decision using that thinking as opposed to "projecting" Flexen and Bradish.

The blank row in pitchers does not matter, the rest of the features are not affected.
There is no need to sort the hitters alphabetically, assuming you mimicked the format (Last, First- Team), there is internal coding that alphabetizes the list for the rest of the displays.

Re: Trade or Stand?
I'm a flags fly forever guy so I'm always aggressive. That said, I have no experience in a H2H keeper league so I'm not the best to ask. I see the difference as H2H has a certain chance element in the playoffs so I can't speak towards fortifying my team only to have a bad beat in the playoffs. I can...

Impossible for me to just throw out names -- too many nuances within a league and team managers.
That said, I'm reasonable sure if I had Woodruff, I'd respectfully decline that offer and would only consider something with either Bauer or Flaherty.

If you can freely move between active and reserve, the best approach is weekly matchups.

I picked up Shoemaker in my AL only as a stash. I'll probably play matchups until he either shows worthy of being left in the lineup or a cut. So I guess it depends on the format and if you have to use him right away.

Re: Balancing Pitching Stats
Sure, there's a time, but there's no formula, at least not for me - it's a feel thing. Depends on how the other categories (including hitting) are fleshing out and what scenario gives me the best chance to win. It's not always possible, since it is schedule and rules dependent, but midweek I look to...

Re: trade advice
I can't judge whether it makes sense. There is too much league contextual factors, but I can help break it down. Dozier has been playing with a sore hand -- he should get better and has in fact displayed signs of snapping out of it this week. You have to ask yourself, "who replaces Dozier in my...

Here are the questions you need to ask yourself... 1) Who does Cesar Hernandez replace and how does that affect my lineup's potential to score points? 2) How much will Pete Fairbanks help my lineup when (if?) he returns. 3) If I add Nicky Lopez, how does that change #1? If overall, the trade improve...

Re: Final Draft Roster
I've liked Dunning since he debuted the same game as Casey Mize last season. Obviously not this good, but certainly mid to top of the rotation upside in his prime. Folty is a tough call, throwing well, but with too many walks and an early season case of gopheritis. He's more in the stash range for m...

Worth rostering? Sure, so long as he's playing regularly. My thought process last night when doing bids was while I'd like him, I'm not going to get him at the cost it will take as someone always chases the stats that are in the book. I put in a "keep them honest" bid and was indeed outbid...

For me, it's not a matter of, "How will he do?" - who knows? It's about needs to an extent, but more so risk aversion and willingness to take a chance. There should be a safety net of Houston isn't likely to set him up to fail, if he struggles, he's sent to (hopefully) Triple-A or the alte...

I can't really offer much. It's too early to do anything drastic, especially in deep leagues like this. Just follow playing time scenarios and do your best to maximize AB early, then see how things flesh out.

I take the opposite approach and hammer closers. Call it different, not necessarily better. Saves tend to come in bunches so if I have four on my roster, my hope is two of them pop in a particular week and then I rely on my starters for the other seven spots. The key is I obviously prefer closers wi...

Similar question to the prior one on Mullins - Based on the ABs the projections are showing for Nunez, I'm assuming you think he sits once Torkelson comes up, hence the low AB total. Do I have that right? Not really -- it's more about a report Nunez was in danger of not making team or replaced by I...

Todd - Given the ABs in the projections, I take it you're figuring Stewart will take ABs from Mullins. DO I have that right? I don't look at it as anyone is taking at bats from another - if anything, Mullins is taking at bats from Hays. The club indicated it wants Stewart to play, but obviously his...

Really nothing that's not out there. Oakland will give him a look the next week or so to see if they'll keep him. Decent on base skills, but a bit old for the level.

Sorry for the confusion.
Catcher DOES count as a hitter.
Total hitters and pitchers should only be active players.

Hard to eyeball -- especially since a keeper league isn't decided on draft day. Maybe light on power. A couple prospects should play, maybe sooner than later.

There are different ways to get to $17/$18. In today's landscape, average and steals are worth a lot. But that's in a vacuum.
Roster construct is more important than expected earnings.
The #1 lesson from the RJ Vintage Drafts is it's all about roster build, not earnings.

Hopefully you understand the difference between projections, rankings and when to pick a player. Madrigal -- his batting average and steals carry "value in a vacuum", but you don't draft value. He's detrimental to most roster construction but there is a time and a place. I don't have him i...

Depending where you picks, deGrom wasn't an egregious mistake. In short, you want to spread the positions around and not double up (except in outfield) before filling in all the infield spots. Taking two SS or two 3B because you can use them at MI or CI as well as UT and they were the best available...
