Re: CVRC Help
The same thing occurs for NFBC setups. There are 20 catchers instead of 30 with positive values. If you remove the 10 lowest valued non-catchers, you still have enough players for every position, with a few extras. My take is that it doesn't actually make any difference in the overall scheme of thin...

are the MIX15 dollars in the projection file using Catcher/non-Catcher or are they by position. I thought you said in a prior post you used the catcher/non-catcher method.
I see Hanley is $43 in CVRC but $40 in Projection.

Drafting from the middle allows you to "go with the flow". The problem with that is you can find yourself without a drafting plan because you often switch directions as the draft winds change. From either end, you need a plan you stick to and a degree of drafting discipline that it takes e...

I see Chapman is added and Figgins ABs and counting stats upped.
I presume Lowell will be returned to the DB as an AL and that Dunn & Dukes will return from AWOL.
Were any other projections changed besides Chapman & Figgins in last evenings maintenance run?

we all construct our rosters differently. In real baseball, the adage had always been power on the corners to include LF & RF, and speed up the middle to include CF. And along came Arod, Ripken, Nomar & Tejada and the world tilted on its axis.

I have no clue if this is a fair analysis but the season has 6 months. A $24 players earns $4 per month. His value would drop about $4 per month that he is out. According to MB
Beckham is in the $16-$18 range
Figgins around $9 and
Zobrist $21-$19
Now dollars in a vacuum should equal value. What's weird is that
Beckham goes around round 6
Figgins goes around round 6 and
Zorbist goes around round 4.

I used to do a lot of ESPN H2H. My way of playing there no longer works as they limits add/drops each week. I will say that punting a category is a bad way to go. I rotate around 12 in SBs with the "C" being 15-9.

Re: Jason Grey - Coast to Coast
Jason's writings for ESPN are usually INSIDER - meaning you have to pay to see them. I always liked reading his articles but ESPN doesn't give me $30 annually worth of articles I want to read. The problem with all the sleepers they show is they are based on the standard ESPN 10-team MLB leagues. A 2...

Re: A Viper's Random Thoughts on Draft Tendencies
no clue on ten team leagues. The reason I like the NFBC is that you can get ADPs from actual being played leagues rather than mock drafts.
The absolute best ADP is the one from the main event but that is not available until after it is too late.

PRERANKING YOUR LISTS IS CRITICAL. You need to get your lists on the draft site ahead of time. I would suggest 3-4 days ahead of time. The problem is the Fanball site is not operational yet. I don't know how hard it will be to set up lists there. I do know that it takes a lot of time on MDC - I mea...

Nick, just remember to have fun. I'm turning 64 in April and I learned a long time ago to smell the roses. I'll comment on the question later but for now, I think you will see that Broxton has replaced Lidge as a top tier closer. Lidge may have more going-in job security but he scares the be-jeebers out of me. The top tier closers need to be sure things and Lidge is anything but. If you think Broxton is ...

A Viper's Random Thoughts on Draft Tendencies
The players drafted change every year but the mix among Hitters, Starting Pitchers and Closers/Setups is almost a constant. My sample size right now is small but the results are exactly as I would have predicted. My three samples are my MDC draft last Thursday with ARC and Mark, the MB Slow draft an...

After my first fast mock draft at MDC, I might just create a tier list specifically for power and speed. It might just be a list of name for players in each tier with that skill. It will be a time saver.

My HR breakdown is similar to Todds. I have a 9 HR range only because its easier having four above and four below the midpoint. I use a 7 SB range. This year I'm rotating around 19HR and 11SBs. The average HR count for the top 210 players using the 180/30 mix for hitters is a bit under 19. It is a b...

This will be my third season using a color coded scheme for skills with each tier. Simple, I have a column which uses a letter grade for HRs, SBs and BA. A score of "C" means average. Adam Dunn is graded at ADD. Top level HRs but under average in steals & average. For the top few tiers...

Re: Finishing an Auction Draft with Snake Draft for Reserves
Looking at the title of this thread I point out that Shandler's piece today talks about a combined Auction/Snake draft where you have money to auction off the first 4-7 rounds of your selection and then go to a snake draft. Minimum bid is $15 or so and each team gets the same number of players.

after the draft, the most likely configurations will be 4-3 or 3-4. Come June when three players are on the DL and your bench is reduced to just four spots, things will be a bit more interesting.
I'll probably start 3 hitters and 4 pitchers. However there will be no job security whatsoever.

relative the to Mon/Fri lineup changes, you can look at you choices and then see who their opposing SP will be and where they are playing. my one note is that drafting from an end means you need to be ready. You also need to plan on your strategy for when runs occur. This is best done by understanding the positions and what is available at various points of the draft. Just because there is a 2B run does not mean you must reach to get o...

Players with multiple eligibility can do wonders. If you have a 2BSS starting at middle, a 1B3B starting at the corner and a OF at UTIL, just having one corner and one middle on your bench allows for any non-catcher to be sat for that half week. In most cases, you can get away with a totally flexibl...

Opinions differ. This rule divides the hitting week into a 4-day and 3-day stretch. More closely is two 3-day periods as teams often get either Monday or Thursday off. in deep leagues, the 23 HR players are not on waivers. In shallow leagues they probably are. I guess it all depends on your type of league.

Prado was round 13 in this practice draft. May go a bit higher later in the year. Still probably in the second half of your starters being drafted. When I think of top half, I think of the 14 active starters. This is probably due to 4 of my leagues having no bench. If you draft then, you play them.
