CVRC Help Todd

Todd, Here is my orginal post with my settings. Thanks again for your help! QUESTION Anyone been having problems getting CVRC for hitters vs pitchers to match up. I like to run each and then create a new excel with both and sort 1-230. MY hitters seem to fall realisticly but pitching value just seem...

Re: Carlos Quentin worth a pick?

If BA and position played is not a consideration than the pick is Pena ( by FAR ). Pena has a 3 year avg power index of 209 which is higher than any other MLB player. He also has a flyball % over 50, (more FB = more HR). Plus look at his last 3 years! Quentin has had 1 good year! Take the safe bet. ...

Re: Shallow League Strategy

Thanks for everyone's input so far, here's what I've been finding out so far..... 1. Ran the CVRC for my league type and found the biggest gaps in 2b & SS 2. It seems thru all the mock drafts I've been doing that it's better to reach slightly for an Inf position ( excluding 1B ) whenever possibl...

Shallow League Strategy

Just looking for some advice on how people would attack a shallow league with this set up. All input is appreciated.

Single Season Draft 5x5 Mixed League
10 teams - 14/9 ( 1 CNR/MID 2 C 1 UT) Benches - 6 players

Dominating the Draft

I wanted to get people's opinion who do draft's as opposed to auctions. Most of the leagues I play in are online drafts 90 sec in between picks, here is what I'm wondering... 1. Pre Work - where's your focus ( knowing the player pool, lot's of mock drafting etc..? ) 2. Do you go in with a set strate...

Re: HOF votes

Another thing to consider for SP. Baseball lowered the mound and discourages (actively or passively) coming inside. Hitters are at an advantage now that they weren't 'back then'. They hang over the plate with all kinds of body armor and when they are plunked or it's a near miss the pitcher either g...

Re: HOF votes

This subject always gets me fired up for some reason…. I believe that the HOF should be reserved for the best of the best, not good players who had long careers like Blyleven. I’m sure I’m in the minority but I’d like to see the HOF reserved for elite talent, in my book good is not good enough. How ...

Re: HOF votes

I disagree, he admitted to pretty much everything, so you won't have reporters trying to prove he's still not telling the truth. It will be a big story his first couple days, then after that he'll fade to the background. How often do you really hear from hitting coaches reguardless of who they are?...

Re: JOSH HAMILTON PLAYING TIME

I'd have to agree with Viper, I belive he'll get over drafted making it HIGHLY unlikely you'll get back full value. You grab Hamilton, and I'm grabbing a Youkilis type talent and sleeping a lot easier.

Re: HOF votes

cwk, I am not sure that voters will treat all players from the steroids era like McGwire, who made himself a poster boy. I doubt the voters will go for years not voting for the most worthy players, instead voting in Harold Baines types or no one. It should be interesting... Now that McGwire has 'fe...

Re: Adjustments for Position Played

Let me re clarify my point ( maybe I wasn't clear, maybe I just don't understand we'll see :) ) Let me start by saying that I'm drafting not doing an auction, so I use $$ figures provided to help me to create my tiers. I understand the point about replacement value, but my point is this, isn't repla...

Re: Matt Kemp

70% of all players perform worse in the following year as compared to the previous season. I did this study a few years back and it has actually been cited several times by some very respectable people. I re-did it for this year's Platinum subscribers with some additional studies as well and found ...

Re: Adjustments for Position Played

Thanks for the comment cwk, but wouldn't doing that just get you draft eligiable players, I remember reading that, I belive it had more to do with creating a player pool based on draft eligiable players in your league setup. I'm talking about adding value based on player stats vs the position(s) pla...

Adjustments for Position Played

Todd & Staff, I was wondering whether you or anyone on the staff has found a way to quantify a players MLB position in his draft value. As an example you have two players that both hit .300 30HR 100 RBI 100 RUNS, however one plays Catcher and the other is an outfielder. Since a catcher performin...

Matt Kemp

Tood & Staff, Wanted to ask you a multi parted question about my favorite fantasy player - Matt Kemp Your projection of .301 24 HR 96 Runs 90 RBI 33 SB His actual 09 Stats .297 26 HR 97 Runs 101 RBI 34 SB On the surface it looks like a pretty close duplication of last years numbers, except for a...
