Tweaking Shandler
Sorta like roto's version of Finding Forrester. I've take Shandler's pitching primer (Control ratio, K/9 Ratio and HR/9 ratio) and added a few things to it over the years (such as IP, Ratio and ERA). I'm going to add at least two more categories this year (probably three) so I'm soliciting opinions....

Re: ONLY FORMATS NEXT SEASON WITH HOUSTON MOVING
For us? Status quo - keep the 23 man rosters the same for both our 11 team AL only and 11 team NL only. We'll call Houston a "bonus" to our AL league and not that much of a loss to our NL - and if we go back to 12 teams in either of our leagues? Same thing. No modifications. As my brother ...

Foot for thought ...thank you Cap'n. To that group, I'm going to keep a 7 unit Sal Perez and an 11 unit Daniel Murphy - so I'm looking at 7 for either 79 or 84 on offense (depending on Saunders). And there is a reason why there are things I don't get. Mea culpa to Billy Beane and the entire Oakland A's organization. I originally began to ask around to see what I could get for Ellsbury. The main reason behind this was the risk associated with his pending free agency. Ross - we just traded him in an asterisk deal but we've had him for 2.5 years. He's a pro, he's always ready to play and it just seems he doesn't get very many empty AB's. Ya Gotta Love Bill Madden - majors version
NY Daily News 06/03/12 Whether they care to know it or not, the Oakland A’s and San Diego Padres are on pace for some historical offensive futility marks. After 51 games, the A’s were batting .210, which would eclipse the 1910 Chicago White Sox’s all-time worst .211. According to the Elias Bureau, t...

NY Daily News 06/03/12; - So much for Yankees’ minor league pitching coordinator Nardi Contreras’ policy of keeping the minor league starters on strict pitch counts to preserve their arms — even if it’s at the expense of teaching them command and pitching out of tight spots. Manny Banuelos, the Yank...

I owned him for 5 years and frustrating and streaky are the two adjectives that come to mind. For a guy with an excellent batting eye, his BA stinks. He's going from two hitter's parks (US Cellular and Bank One) to the death valley of Petco AND 12 games in Oakland Seattle and Frisco. I think he'll h...

My point is that getting farnsworth back strengthens their pen regardless of whether he's the closer or not. True Kid, they might. But, that seems more like a "sellers" move and they will no doubt be buyers. Afterall, a strong bullpen is a huge key to postseason success. And christ, the way they're playing what do they even need? They're stacked. I suppose an upgrade at any of 2b, SS, OR 1B woul...

Also keep in mind that Farnsworth is a 36 year old who is in his walk year ... Tampa may send him off for a piece to their puzzle if he shows something by then. After all, they are almost playing .600 ball without him in the AL East no less.

I hold off for now. With Cain to the DL (Groin pulls and hamstring injuries are known in our leagues as Lingering Rickeys), you need to see how a guy whose game is driven by his wheels recuperates. I own Cain in an AL only as well ...I like his potential ...but he really hasn't proven anything yet.

Some times, it's better to leave the roster spot open than to fill it with something that is more likely to hurt you than help you. As you yourself have alluded to many times in the past, sometimes the answer is subtraction over addition.
