Re: NFBC DC # 4 bench advice

Unless I'm missing something, your only 3b is Sandoval and he of course has his injury concerns. Having a nice backup plan for C is good, but it won't hurt nearly as much as not having a 3b in your lineup. If not this round, I would grab one of those 3b below on the way back or soon after.

Re: Todd's NFBC DC Express

Gomez wasn't going to make it to the 3rd - I was 1 pick away from having a very nice Miggy/Gomez start in mine, but he was taken at 2.13. You may have him ranked a little better than most, but he is rightfully being drafted consistently in the 2nd round. As long as his speed stays constant at around...

Re: 1st time nfbc slow draft

Todd and Perry can probably give you better overall strategy and hitter/pitcher splits, but one piece of advice to your dive into the NFBC DC leagues is to understand that you have no ways to fix your mistakes during the year. Your draft plan needs to factor in your appetite for risk, whether that b...

I figure the 2nd weekend ME is just about wrapped up, so since I did well after posting my team last year, I'm going to post it again, with comments (from 3 pick): 1 - Ryan Braun - As soon as I got #3, I was pretty sure I was getting Braun because of the suspension risk - if he doesn't get suspended...

Re: Roy Halladay's velocity

It's pretty clear that Halladay is not healthy, despite Philly's insistance that he is. It's spring training, so if he really had a stomach virus, you scratch him and start him whenever he feels better, not pitch him an inning and then take him out. The last 2 weeks of events and the conclusion in m...

Re: Roy Halladay's velocity

Halladay and "lethargic" usually don't go together. Usually a veteran getting beat up in the spring is just brushed off, but in Halladay's case, probably just adds more uncertainty to whether he is really healthy or not. Philly insisting he's healthy doesn't mean anything. Halladay will de...

Re: Roy Halladay's velocity

Todd, I think your statement about Halladay assumes some belief that he is and/or won't be healthy the entire season. Unless he is truly washed up, I can't see him turning into a 6 inning pitcher, as you can't take the workhorse out of someone. His innings, IF he is back, should drop 10-20 from his ...

Re: Roy Halladay's velocity

I think the ability to just flat out pitch can be underestimated, and Halladay hasn't lost the ability to do that. The loss in velocity, IMO, will impact Halladay when he doesn't have his good stuff/movement and pinpoint control. That will lead to a couple more beatings than we're used to seeing fro...

Re: My first NFBC Online Championship team - thoughts?

I think the analysis of your team is pretty spot on, as I would be worried about the pitching and the speed. The good thing is that both of those areas are plentiful in a 12 teamer, so if it does come to be true you should be able to recover if you pick up the right guys in FAAB. Not sure if this is...

I hear ya Todd about Konerko. I got him at the end of the 9th in my latest slow (pick 13) and was thinking the same thing. Ike, Howard and Konerko were there in the 8th and took the chance one of them would get back to me. Konerko was the one that did.

It's always a little difficult to judge the 12 teamers because it seems like everyone has solid teams.
