Hey, Cubfan. I like Kelenic but their outfield is going to be crowded soon. Keeping him at our auction was one of my many mistakes this year. I REALLY like him next year though. Re: Julio Pablo Martinez

An FYI, Perry, I see Martinez beat up the Dominican league and has been promoted to Spokane in the short season NW League. That should be a bit of a culture shock but might as well get that out of the way now. He had nothing left to prove (after all of 22 at bats) in the Dominican.

Any take on the new Texas prospect, Julio Pablo Martinez? Apparently Baseball America is going to rank him #60 overall. He's not very big which is a bit concerning. Still, Texas is laying out $2.8 million so there must be something there. Does anybody know anybody that's seen him play?

For a pretty high draft pick Matt Manning has sure been kept under wraps. Does anyone have any idea what his status is and whether he'll actually play games in 2017? Between him and Kyle Zimmer I appear to have really screwed the pooch on my minor league draft.

The trade turned out to be Michael Brantley (2 years at a buck) for Moore and JD Drew. I dropped Gibson to clear a spot for Moore.

When I bring Moore up he'll have a 3 year contract at $1 per year.

Re: Sorting through AL Minor League players

Thanks, I appreciate you're looking it over. My overall list is about 150 players, right down to Bryce Harper. Frankly, since we're in Cleveland I figure Chisenhall, Rondon, Knapp and Hagadone will be taken before me. Since Ackley and Hellickson will be taken that leave 4 picks between me and Jennin...

Sorting through AL Minor League players

I'm in a 10 team AL-only Strikeout league that allows us to draft and hold any players not on a Major League 25 man roster or DL. We can keep as reserves until the year after their Rookie status has expired. After that, they must come up for up to 3 years at $1. It's why I have Longoria, Porcello an...

Re: Hitting updates - positions

I hate it when it's me although I learned from years of tech support that if you say it's someone else it'll turn out to be you. Our Neanderthal League uses a single position and it's whatever they did last year most often. I hope my wife doesn't find out I need to run through the spreadsheets AGAIN...

Hitting updates - positions

Is it just me or are some of the positions out of whack on the new AL hitting projections? Asdrubal Cabrera at 2B, Peralta and Bloomquist at SS, Swisher and Cuddyer at 1B. There are probably more that I didn't catch.

Thanks... Dale

To me that looks like the proper list of 6. I often come here asking that others throw cold water on my scheme to make the "fun" (Feliz) pick instead of the correct pick. The response is generally either: 1. You can get him back for about the same price. 2. If they want him so badly they'l...

7/11 RoY question - Marcum

We've just completed our midseason draft where our league can have free drops. Normally a player must be on the DL or sent down to drop him. I am sitting on a recently acquired Matsuzaka and now see that Marcum is also rehabbing in Double A. You hadn't listed Marcum on your 7/11 RoY projections and ...

The Indians are 10 games back in the loss column. That's not out of it at the 1/3 marker but they aren't trending well. They play Division foes for the next 10 games or so then it's off to Inter-league play for a couple of weeks. Reds, Cards, Pirates. If they play poorly now they'll be done. Now tha...

Re: RoY pitch projection question

Thanks Todd. I think when we see someone deviating from what we consider their baseline value level (Kazmir, Sizemore, etc.) we have to make a judgement on which factors might be causing the decline. The fact that an injured player will keep going until their arm falls off before admitting an injury...

RoY pitch projection question

I am looking to give my pitching a goose. I know you're not supposed to chase wins but I kind of need some more wins. Reviewing the RoY projections I was surprised to see 3 names listed (1 of mine) that seem to indicate the projection is based upon how well they performed last year. To wit: Matsuzak...

I think Beckett is starting to come around and I would guess that his owner (we generally love our own guys) thinks so too. In that light I agree that Kubel would not entice him. Why not try Markakis instead? As for that top 10 ranking, the staff of this illustrious site share that opinion at least ...

Starting on Monday I have the option of Keeping Wang or picking up Romero. I will have to keep the "winner" until the All-Star grame so a mistake could be harmful. Which do you prefer? I'm thinking the Yankees will generate many more win opportunities and am leaning towards Wang. Thanks! TB

I confess I had to look up Jepsen. Sure is a big difference between a 10 team and a 12 team league. I laughed at a line from the Sept 7 Rotoworld blurb... "He does lack command". Looks like you'll be able to dump him before his ERA goes over 60. When I was bidding on Uehara and Scott Lewis...

Did you underrate Kyle Davies

Do you think Kyle Davies is underrated in AL-only leagues? He went for $3 in my 10 team league and now that I'm looking for a pitcher (we can only drop when a player is on the DL or sent to the minors) to replace Scott Lewis I was thinking of offering Adam Lind for him. Otherwise I'd keep Scott Lewi...

Re: My $1 players - the plan was 8 players / 8 dollars

Getting down to $8 for 8 means that you can only buy a player that you yourself nominate. I believe Perry advocates having $2 per player for the endgame for this very reason. I think the concept is extremely useful. The idea would be to have (using OF as an example) 3-5 candidates for 1 slot. If th...

Yeah, I keep forgetting what a big world it is out there. I'm in such an old-fashioned league we actually announce our keepers just before the auction starts. Still, with the season starting in April I'd think that the week of the 23rd would be enough notice. Eh, that do I know?

I'm still waiting. From my perspective I would not be able to bid anything on him based upon more than 2/3 of a season whether he was hurting now or not.

I also don't understand "real" leagues forcing a mid-March roster freeze.

Hey Cubfan, thanks for the input. Our league has a unique keeper system. We can only keep players that cost 10 bucks or less. We can keep them for 3 years at that static rate. The trick is that we can only keep 5 each year. This forces players back into the auction pool. This is the last year for Ki...
