Re: CVRC Help
Thanks Todd I redownloaded the file and re ran and now it’s correct. One last question would you adjust any of the catagory weights for a shallow league or leave them all at the default settings? Not really sure how the shallowness of the league might effect HR / SB distribution between players abov...

CVRC Help
Todd,
Having the same issue with not being able to force the positions. For my 10 team league the player pool should be
C 20
1B 21
2B 18
3B 19
SS 12
OF 50
Let me know what I'll need to do to get proper values. Thanks in advance for your help.

I've followed him pretty closely and he used to be a target of mine. As long as he's healthy he'll be promoted at some point this season, but instead of 4/5 months of stats its looking like 2/3 months unless an injury opens up a spot sooner. The fact that his path to playing time is blocked by H.Ken...

Respect your opinion Todd hopefully your wrong. I do agree my SP base is weak. My plan is to pick my spots with my 4/5 SP and start RP when they have poor matchups. I just need to make sure I watch my total innings. As for my hitting if it stays healthy I like it a lot when I look around at some of ...

NFBC Slow Draft - How did I do?
This was my first slow draft and first time playing in the NFBC. I under estimated how fast pitching would go but I feel like I did good enough to mix and match as the season goes along. Guess we'll see. Any comments greatly appreciated C Vogt, S. Perez, S. Joseph, C. Kratz, E O'Brien, P. 1B Abreu, ...

I probably have waited a little long for 2B but I felt like the choices vs the SP at the same spot made more sense to grab SP especially since my top SP is Ross. This is my first time playing in the NFBC. I'm currently in round 15 just looking for some opinions on my draft so far and areas of focus. Got offered M kemp in a trade. Just wondering what people think of his prospects for the rest of this year and if he's a good target in trade. Was encouraged by the fact he's been running and hit the 2 HR, but I'm also afraid I'm buying damaged goods who won't ever be right this year.

It's not when but who. My process is "draft the pitcher, not the round." I tier the pitchers by ERA/ratio. I decide what I want my final ERA/WHIP to be I map out several paths to get there such as 1 from T1, 1 from T3, 2 from T4... 2 from T2, 1 from T3, 1 from T4... 1 from T2, 2 from T3, ...

In 2009 he went for .281 33 113 100 9 that's pretty close to 1st round value to me.
Then in 2011 in 133 games he goes for .244 31 99 78 3. (he's a career .276 hitter )
Add all of this to the fact he just turned 27, and you start to see why people would invest.

Re: Josh Johnson
Here's all I can say.... 1. Everything I've heard ( I live down here ) and read is that his arm/shoulder is fine and this is a control issue that he feels will work itself out the more he pitches. 2. I just traded for him. In my 10 team mix I traded Melky for him straight up. I'm happy with the deal...

Heyward is not going to ever be in a platoon situation. He played everyday with one good shoulder last year, so I see no reason that will change. You have Willingham at UT so if an OF goes down your covered. I'd stand pat.

Yes Hosmer being available was due to CBS default ranks and no one jumping and grabbing him. In my league almost everyone waits on SP so I was able to get a little better staff than I reasonably should. My OF is def weak but that was the plan going in. Carpenter- Already hurting
Zimmerman / Hudson - Just missed but we are prob quibbling

I didn't mean to imply that your strategy can't or won't work, just commenting on the risk associated with it. My opinion on the matter has been tainted by the prep work I've been doing for my upcoming draft. In my recent mocks I've been grabbing 2/4 starters from my top tiers in the first 10 rounds...

Think your weak at UT and SP. I like some of your pitcher picks it's just you need all of them to hit to be succesful. I'm sure if you look at some of the other teams you'll see what I mean. I had to adjust my strategy this year and start taking a few more pitchers from my upper tiers and stop hopin...

CBS's default ranks for SP in the top 20 are....
Halladay - (5)
Kershaw - (6)
Verlander - (9)
Lee - (10)
Felix - (20)
All I know is the more SP drafted in Rd 1/2 the better..... for me, LOL.

Here's a recent 10 team draft I did, it's a free league so it's a step above a mock but not by much. I've found people put in a little more effort than just a mock, so I like them for the practice. One note is CBS default ranks are SP heavy the first few rounds so I think it inflates SP causing hitt...

I mostly play 10 team mix and in my opinion your pitching is weak. However it can also depend on your strategy and preference. Since the league is so shallow you can stream and work the wire and "find" some pitching. For me I like to load up on hitting early by round 10 i'll have 8 hitters...

Reguarding SP being more injury prone, one thing I would say is a SP has lot less opportunities to help your team vs a position player when comparing 30-35 starts vs 600-700 PA. It's the difference in a 15 day DL stint between 2/3 starts vs 40/50 PA. I still subscribe to the theory of grabbing hitte...

Round 2 - Victor Martinez McCutchen, Stanton, Verlander, Wright, Beltre available. I chose Martinez for a few reasons. 1. As a Red Sox fan I really hope they don't move either one. I see Joba all over again. Hoping they make a deal for Garza don't see why the deal can't be 1 top pospect ( Middlebrook + what the Cubs already owe the Sox ) for Garza. Just my 2 cents.

IMO the only chance Fuentes has of holding onto the job is if Bailey suffers another injury. It's Bailey's job when he returns. If it were me, I'd roll the dice and make the deal. IMO if Bailey is fully cleared I'm not so sure the other owner makes the deal. You know your league better, if you can wait and be confident you'll still be able to make it then hold off.

If I were you I'd be focused on Stubbs, Rasmus & Alvarez. I'd be focused on getting as much young talent as possible. I'd also focus on hitters more than pitchers. Haren does nothing for you. By the time your ready to contend it won't be with someone like Haren, just my opinion.
