Re: K/BB and K/9

When doing player valuation for these categories, do the IP need to be considered to compare the impact of one player vs. the next. Does a K/9 of 10 have a greater impact for a team if it is over 200 innings vs 70 innings; or should it be treated like a counting stat for valuation purposes?

Hitter replacement values

I have been using the same replacement values for a while and wanted to be sure they were still in the right ballpark:
BA- 10 team .273, 12 Team .271
OBP- 10 team .338, 12 Team .335
SLG-10 team .441, 12 Team .439

Do you recommend any changes?

10 team $ keeper mixed league- 1 opening

This is the 3rd year of the Yahoo league. 6x6 rotisserie mixed league. 3 year max for keepers, so many will be available next year. Max of 5 keepers each year. If you don't like 5 players on the team there will be a supplimental draft prior to main draft. $ entry fee, top 3 spots get a prize. If int...

Re: Depth Charts

Thanks for all the suggestions. My primary reason for the depth charts is to determine the picking order for bullpens. Closers are easy, but I try to estimate primary set-up man, 2nd in line, etc. The pecking order is not always alligned with innings. I realize this is highly speculative at this poi...

I don't agree with you Kid. When a player is named the starter, we have to assume that in the eyes of the organiztion, he is the best player for the position. Most anyone on any opening day roster can underperform and be benched. You have to assume that projections based on a player spending 1/2 of...

This is year 3 of the league. $50 entrance fee, all $ goes towards prizes. The league is run on Yahoo, and we have a yahoo user group to hold the information during the offseason. I agree with Gary and Big Kid. My difinition is: "A guy that would be the best pitcher on the majority of major league teams". I think there are probably 25-30. A couple of teams have more than 1, and several teams do not have any.

I should have given more deails. This is a very shallow 11 team mixed league with six hitting categories (OPS is the extra one). I agree Rotodog. Great fantasy baseball players can reasses the player pool after each player is drafted and estimate the change in values as there team is build and the rest of the player pool diminishes.

Re: Projections or Predictions, Chasing Stats and Skills

Great topic everyone! Personally, I feel that the projections are the key to a good draft/auction. I agree that if someone hit 130 RBI last year you have to pay for 130 RBI, but the key to success is getting the player that will hit 130 RBI this year and paying for 80 RBI. Yes, some luck is involved...
