Just for shiggles .... who is the one player in all the years you've been playing you tumbled onto and snagged before anyone else knew enough about him to grab him first? I've had a few .... To me, there are many types of offers, two of them being; "I need pitching more than I need hitting. I look at his roster and think he needs more offense than pitching so I offer Machado to take away any perceived pain of giving up Paxton" "I'm out of it this year, let me see what I c...

You may have left something out ...over what time period does the 15 start max cover? Weekly? Monthly? Season? etc. I ask because there were several references in your post about week or weekly. This is sort of my point. You pay for Trout, you're hamstrung in pitching. Now you were extremely fortunate in being able to get what you got for 34 units, but let's face it ...you bought Trout before any of those 4 relievers, right? This is what I mean about actual value versus cost. You DID preven...

I don't dispute the foundation ideal .... but when your are looking at 22 for 205 (or possibly worse in a keeper league when it comes to units), the eaves better be damn sturdy ...and you need a lot of them. Re: Keeper question

Take from a different perspective. Reds run differential last three years; 81, 109, -17 What have they done to address that situation? 37 year old Marlon Byrd and probably hundreds of novenas for the return to good health and hitting ability of Joey Votto. Hamilton's OBP in 2014 was .292 and his SB ...

Re: Keeper question

IMHO, the best pitcher in baseball does not get jettisoned in favor of Robinson Cano. He puts up good but not great numbers (if he had a HR number starting with a 2 or triple digits in RBI or runs last year, I may have a different opinion). Kershaw can cover other mistakes on your pitching staff.

Wow .... lot of people would have a tough time selling that set of circumstances. You get Braun and Kershaw for whoever you gave up last year and Devin Mesoraco?? In a 1 catcher league? I think you would have to be prepared for some blowback there.

I was afraid of this ... when I cited Moreno, I felt it might cloud this issue ... my little homily was not meant to be intended towards football ....rather, it was intended to be used in a baseball frame of reference. Three year weighted averages

I was glancing at, of all things, a blurb about Knowshon Moreno and a thought started to come to the forefront. If you've followed him, you know he gets hurt a lot - but that's not what got me thinking. He's not exactly the poster boy for the three year weighted average because of these injuries but...

Just to comment on the saves -- without knowing if it's a daily league and you can have all 4 CL active and still cycle in the starters, adding two means you have a realistic shot at one point, not three. Right now, a 10 save difference is really 15 as we're 2/3rds through the season. Each new clos...

I would get rid of Veras. He was shaky to begin with and, keep in mind, this was a team who rescued Kevin Gregg from the scrap heap. I think Strop will get the job for a while and, by the time he falters, Veras won't be in the mix to get the job back. There's a reason he went cheap in the auction.

I can not see the strategy of starting a guy who has not pitched in an MLB game in over a year. Can he go 5 innings? Does he have his stuff? What about his stamina? Is he on a pitch count? Can't see it. Most will do what you are doing, daford ...adopting a wait and see attitude.

I presume you are talking keeper leagues that DON'T have a lot of inflation - I play in two leagues, one AL and one NL that have high but normal inflation in the NL and sometimes extremely high - north of 40% in the AL so Miguel Cabrera was drafted in 2011 at 52 and kept all three years by that tea...
